Candour
We tell you when a deal does not work, when a market's law makes your request impossible, and when you would be better served by someone else. The first conversation is where bad news is cheapest, so that is where we deliver it.
About
EuroEast Gateway exists because the same conversation kept happening in two places at once — and nobody was in both rooms.
In Riyadh, Dubai and Damascus, buyers described the same problem. They wanted European equipment, European food, European building systems. What they could reach were exporters and intermediaries — a layer of margin that added no verification, no negotiation and no accountability when a shipment was wrong. The manufacturer's name was on the box; nobody had ever spoken to the manufacturer.
In Hamburg and Lisbon, the mirror image. Excellent manufacturers with no export desk, no Arabic material and a vague conviction that the Gulf was a market for somebody else. Asked why they had not appointed a distributor in Saudi Arabia, they gave the same answer: we would not know how to check who we were dealing with.
Institutional channels exist for this — chambers of commerce, trade missions, sector fairs. They are useful and they are not enough. What was missing was a single team that speaks all four languages, sits on both shores, knows which certificate a container actually needs, and answers to one client rather than to a commission from whoever is nearest.
That is what we built. European rigour in negotiation and compliance; Gulf and Levant fluency in relationships and market reality. One team on both shores.
How we work
We tell you when a deal does not work, when a market's law makes your request impossible, and when you would be better served by someone else. The first conversation is where bad news is cheapest, so that is where we deliver it.
Screening, export controls, conformity and customs are not paperwork at the end. They are the design constraints at the beginning. We screen every counterparty against the EU consolidated list and the OFAC SDN list, and we keep a written record of it.
A normalised RFQ comparison. A factory report with photographs. A distribution agreement where the termination clause has been read as carefully as the price. Trade is a craft, and most of the value is in the parts nobody thanks you for.
Languages
Arabic, English, German and Portuguese. Not “we can arrange translation” — the person who negotiates with a Bavarian machine builder negotiates in German, the person who writes to a Portuguese producer writes in Portuguese, and the brief that comes back to a buyer in Riyadh is in Arabic that reads as though it was written in Arabic. Meaning survives the journey. On this corridor, that is not a nicety; it is where the money is.
Presence
Operating across Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Syria, Portugal and Germany. We describe our specialists by what they do, not by inventing job titles for a website.
Our specialists in Riyadh handle Saudi buyers, SABER and SASO files, SFDA registrations, and the structuring of distribution agreements with local counsel.
Our specialists in Dubai cover UAE distribution, ECAS and Emirates Quality Mark files, and re-export flows that change how a territory clause must be written.
Our specialists in Doha work project procurement, where being present at specification stage matters more than being competitive at tender stage.
Our specialists in Damascus verify counterparties on the ground, track reconstruction demand, and run the screening that every Syrian transaction requires.
Our specialists in Lisbon deal directly with Portuguese producers in Portuguese, and coordinate Atlantic freight through Sines and Leixões.
Our specialists in Hamburg reach the Mittelstand in German, audit plants in person, and book sea freight to the Gulf and the Red Sea.
Who we work with
We are working with a deliberately small group of founding clients. That is a choice, not a stage. An engagement here gets a named specialist on each shore and enough attention to visit a factory, call a reference and read a contract properly — which is not possible across fifty simultaneous mandates.
It also means we will occasionally say no, or say “not this quarter”. If we are full, you will hear that instead of a slow answer.
You will not find client logos or testimonials on this site. We do not publish the names of the people we work for, and we would not publish yours. Judge us on the first conversation instead: ask us something specific about your product and your destination market, and see how detailed the answer is.
Boundaries
Name the product and the destination. The quality of the first answer is the only reference that matters at this stage.
