Saudi Arabia
The deepest market on this side of the corridor. EU–Saudi trade in goods and services runs at roughly €90 billion a year, and around 2,500 European companies operate in the Kingdom. Source: European Commission / EU delegation. Industrial localisation programmes have pulled in machinery, building systems and process equipment; the healthcare and food sectors import at scale.
Conformity: SABER registration with a SASO product certificate of conformity, then a shipment certificate for each consignment. SFDA registration for food, cosmetics and medical devices. Conformity runs through SABER rather than consular legalisation, which is faster — if the file is opened early enough.
Nuance: registered commercial agencies are reserved for nationals and wholly nationally-owned entities. Structure the distribution agreement accordingly, with local counsel, before you sign anything that promises exclusivity.
